MIK

MIK was born in 2013 through the reinterpreting idea the most important mexican culture's tradition: the Day of the Dead. A visual dialogue where transnational creatives from different art/design branches show their offering interpretation.

The collaboration between artist and tradition was carried out through the wooden skulls production for intervention by 9 previously selected artists; and 9 through the online announcement launched through the website.

Its web development was divided into 3 phases based on specific dates and functionalities: event countdown, announcement launch and final website. Starting from this continuity, the design was modular to the content shown in each stage, without losing the initial graphic essence.

Returning to the skull model under serialized plans, the line was taken as the main design basis. Adding the sense of connection between two worlds: ancient—modern. The graphic identity was accentuated under a simple aesthetic language but with typical folklore aspects.

We thank the entire DDM team for the invitation to be part of this magnificent event.
